This course is run as a full face-to-face course where 8 hours should be allowed to complete

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise situations where people may be in imminent crisis, and then to work collaboratively to minimise any safety concerns and make plans to access required support services.
This unit applies to any community services worker involved in crisis intervention. Management of the crisis may involve face-to-face, telephone or remote contact with persons involved.
Successful completion of this unit equips individuals with the skills and knowledge to recognise and help individually that are experiencing a crisis situation

For this unit, there are both written and practical tasks to complete.
The practical tasks are that each student must been involved in crisis intervention activities on at least 3 occasions and manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role.
The written tasks include a knowledge assessment comprising of multiple choice and short answer questions.

Literacy and numeracy skills needed to complete this course should be high enough that each student is able to individually read, write understand and communicate in basic English.
Trainees with special needs either physical difficulties or literacy difficulties, should contact our office prior to enrolling so that assistance can be arranged for you.
The following Statement of Attainment is provided if the student has met all the assessment requirements, payment has been made in full and a USI number is provided and verified:

This unit supersedes and is not equivalent to CHCCS514B Recognise and respond to individuals at risk
