About Us
H&A Training has been in operation for over 20 years with most of those being an issuing RTO. The H&A Training team is made up of highly skilled trainers and assessors who combine teaching and knowledge with a wealth of practical experience. We aim to ensure that our clients receive unrivalled standards of professional competence, flexibility and technical expertise. We are based in Newcastle NSW and are happy to travel to you do deliver a fully-qualified and nationally recognised course in a relaxed environment with a high level of skill retention from all of our trainees.
Combining Theory with Real-World Applications
All our trainers have an extensive background in first aid within various backgrounds including Scouts Australia, RFS and SES with over 80 years combined and can cater our courses for your specific needs. We have a vast range of specialties ranging from children to educators to sporting clubs. We have a course that will suit your needs!

Anne Sparkes is our CEO and founded H&A Training with Hugh in November 2000 after spending about 10 years as a Registered Nurse.

After founding H&A Training with Anne in November 2000, Hugh is our Director with over 20 years experience in the industry and is also one of our knowledgeable trainers.
Markus Favilla-Schirk
Training, Office and Operations Manager
Trainer/Assessor
Markus has been with H&A since January 2021. After completing his Bachelor of Education (Secondary) at the University of Newcastle, he decided to go the VET sector and train in First Aid. He is also our Training, Office and Operations Manager as well as one of our highly skilled trainers specialising in Advanced and Remote Area courses.

Deb has been one of our highly experienced trainers since July 2018 and has a background with the RFS and Scouts Australia.
David Alderton

David has been training with H&A for over 8 years with an extensive background with the SES an an emergency volunteer and trainer.
Emma Keene
Admin/Trainer Assistant
Emma started as a trainer assistant in October 2020 and over time has progressed to become one of our full-time admin staff! With a willingness to help others to learn, you will find Emma at one of your General Public courses or answering the phone at the office.
