This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to perform a rescue from live low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus in an electricity supply industry (ESI) environment. This does not include overhead lines and underground cables.

It includes the organisational workplace requirements for the inspection and use of live LV panel rescue equipment, and how it applies to ESI workers to meet work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS), mobility and mutual aid requirements.

This Competency Standard Unit covers the performance of rescue procedures from live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus.

For this unit, there are both written and practical tasks to complete.

The practical tasks are:

  • identifying organisational rescue requirements
  • identifying hazards, assessing risks and applying control measures
  • identifying the isolation point
  • obtaining and inspecting rescue equipment
  • fitting of rescue personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • performing a rescue from a live low voltage (LV) panel in accordance with workplace requirements.

The written tasks include a knowledge assessment.

For this unit, there are both written and practical tasks to complete.

Literacy and numeracy skills needed to complete this course should be high enough that each student is able to individually complete knowledge assessment questions.

Trainees with special needs either physical difficulties or literacy difficulties, should contact our office prior to enrolling so that assistance can be arranged for you.

This unit has a prerequisite of

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

and

UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace

OR

UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker.

A copy must be given to the trainer and will need to be verified with the issuing RTO prior to completing the course.

The following Statement of Attainment is provided if the student has met all the assessment requirements, payment has been made in full and a USI number is provided and verified:

Students will be notified by H & A Training RTO 90871 in the event that there are any changes to the provider or unit/s the student is enrolled in.

Students do not need to bring any learning materials or resources with them to complete this course.

This unit supersedes and is equivalent to UETTDRRF06  Perform rescue from a live LV panel

There are no workplace arrangements for this unit
