The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is an independent statutory authority with responsibility for oversight of accreditation and recognition of teacher’s professional capacity against professional teaching standards.
NESA oversees the system of accreditation and recognition of teacher’s capacity against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. This system includes professional development provider endorsement, course and program registration and evaluation.
Teachers need to participate in 100 hours of professional development over five years if a full-time teacher or seven years if a part-time, casual or temporary. Proficient Teachers are required to gain:
- A minimum of 50 hours of NESA registered professional development for accredited courses, which is what our courses fall under.
This means that any of the above training courses we provide to employees who fall under NESA is recognised as Professional Development and they can use this training to contribute towards their hours that they are required to obtain throughout their five year period to meet their formal requirements.
If you are registered under NESA, it is important that you make this information known to the trainer upon enrolment.
